DERBY-BASED American racer Ryan Parnes has celebrated his first win on British soil as he and the rest of the Team Raleigh squad get to grips with the new road racing season.
Parnes joined fellow American Phil Mooney, Canadian Jamie Sparling and Dutchman Jeroen Janssen in a team house in Crich in January after they were signed by Raleigh director sportif Eddie White and team manager Cherie Pridham, from Derby.
They are part of a 12-strong squad aiming to make a big impression not only in Britain but in a string of continental races as Raleigh attempt to rebuild their reputation as one of the iconic names in bike racing.
And after suffering a puncture when he was in a great position in his first race on a cobbled circuit in Belgium recently, fast finisher Parnes, 26, charged to a win in a criterium in Shrewsbury. Read more here
